Have you ever read something you wrote and realized how much you needed your own damn advice? Usually, I think to myself, "Wow, I wrote that? Geez, it looks like I need to take heed to my own words!" It's always a great humbling experience, to say the least. I also sometimes think the words are not really coming from me but through me spiritually but that's a whole other topic for another day. I must admit I've had plenty of those moments. A year ago, I had another blog and it centered around positivity and the post below is one of the writings I saved. I happened to come across it recently and realized how much I still needed this message even today. So, although I use the pronoun you, I wrote it from a perspective of the collective, which includes little ol' me. I definitely needed this reminder, then and now, so if you're like me, then I hope the below message on being yourself truly resonates with you!
Be yourself at all times. Even in the moments when the world says you’re supposed to be another, still be yourself. You will live with much less regret when you follow your own doctrine and not follow what society says you should do. In life, there are many rules and games that are brought on due to fear. Love yourself enough to block those societal constructs and to follow your heart. As they say, it is better to be groaned for who you are than to be loved for who you are not. So look in the mirror and tell yourself “I love you” flaws and all.
If you care to share your moments of self-love, I'd love to read them! Please feel free to share your stories where you've gained more knowledge, awareness and love of self below in the comments!
